When released into the atmosphere Methane (CH4) accounts for 22.9% of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions and have an atmospheric lifetime 20 times greater than a comparable unit of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions. The release of this uncapurted Methane in activities such as; Oil & Gas Production, Petrochemical, Public Landfills, Agriculture, and many more cost each segment millions of dollars in lost revenues anually as well as having a negative and in most cases preventable impact on our environment. The tank installation above, consisting of manifolded closed top oil product and saltwater tanks, was equipped with a Whirlwind MRS Series 15 BHP electric rotary screw vapor recovery unit. This application saw suction (Ps) pressures of 2 ounces Psig and a discharge (Pd) pressure of 50 Psig with a daily flow rate of .090 MMSCFD of 2250 BTU tank vapors recovered and sold. This project allowed the producer the opportunity to restrict methane emissions while maximizing profits from their produced product. The Whirlwind MRS Series vapor recovery packages are centered around reliable, low maintenance, oil flooded rotary screw compressor frames like; Gardner Denver, LeRoi and Tamrotor. The MRS Series is available in sizes ranging from 5 to 500 horsepower with electric, natural gas and natural gas generator drivers. These packages are capable of operating from a vacuum to 25 Psig (Ps) suction and (Pd) discharge pressures as high as 200 Psig.
